HKTB names new director for Europe

Hong Kong, May 29, 2008

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has appointed Simon Mills as its new director, Northern Europe, based in London.

Mills joins from Visit Britain and has held senior positions in several major worldwide markets since joining its predecessor the British Tourist Authority in June 1994.  Most recently he was Visit Britain’s regional marketing manager for Europe.

In his new role, Mills will be responsible for promoting HK to the Northern Europe, African and Middle Eastern markets.

“We are delighted to welcome Simon to the Hong Kong Tourism Board at such an exciting time, with visitor numbers continuing to increase on 2007 which was itself a record-breaking year,” said HKTB executive director Anthony Lau.

“We’ll continue, our strategy of focusing on Hong Kong’s unique living culture and hip, trendy lifestyle experiences has struck a real chord in the Middle East market.  And with Hong Kong now making the final preparations for its role as co-host of the Olympic Equestrian events in August, we are confident of achieving further success,” said Mills. – TradeArabia News Service
