Dubai Festival City in association with Island Global Yachting (IGY), the organisers of the inaugural Dubai Boating Festival, have lined up exciting events for the whole family on the two days of the event.

The Boating Festival, to be held on October 24 and 25, will be a celebration of Dubai’s strong maritime heritage, and include exciting activities such as a showcase of amazingly luxurious yachts and boats, a daring helicopter rescue demonstration, model boat building and racing as well as live entertainment from DJs and family games, a day of events to entertain the whole family.

An awareness drive has also been planned by InterContinental Dubai Festival City through the “InterContinental ‘Whatever Floats Your Boat’ Race” to be held on the second day of events, October 2, to highlight the importance of recycling and to help maintain our local environment, said an official.

Dubai based businesses competing in the event, including the hotel itself, Festival Centre and Festival Marina, will build floating, recyclable rafts that will ‘race’ along the Dubai Creek

Along with generating awareness for the initiative, a donation of Dh10,000 has been provided by each competing company, which will go directly to the ‘Clean the Creek’ foundation.-TradeArabia News Service
