Bahrain fest events moved to bigger venue

Manama, July 17, 2011

Bahrain’s Culture Ministry has decided to move two Bahrain Summer Festival shows to a bigger venue at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIEC).

They were originally scheduled to take place at the Cultural Hall.

The shows will remain free and seats will be available on a first-come-first-served basis on the day of the performance.

The relocated shows are the thumping drum beats of 'The Dhol Foundation', whose tracks were featured in Hollywood blockbusters Gangs of New York and The Incredible Hulk, and 'Georgian Legend - Samaia's Little Virtuosos' performed by a group of talented seven to 14-year-olds who will present the fast-paced Georgian folk dance.

'The Dhol Foundation' show will be held tomorrow (July 18) at 8pm while 'Georgian Legend - Samaia's Little Virtuosos' will take place on July 25 and 26 at 7pm.

Meanwhile, Alice in Wonderland will be brought to life by the gifted cast of Canadian theatre troupe ‘Theatre Tout a Trac’ on Wednesday and Thursday at 5pm at the Cultural Hall.

The much-anticipated 'Merchants of Bollywood' musical to be held on Thursday and Friday at 8pm at the BIEC wraps up the week.

Utilising the signature energy and lavish costumes synonymous with Bollywood dancing, the performance follows the epic adventure of a young girl, her grandfather and their shared love of Kathak dance.

Nakhool Tent, located next to Arad Fort, will be open as usual to the public from 5pm to 10pm, offering free educational and entertaining cultural activities.

The ministry is also co-ordinating with hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and public theme parks to offer a variety of promotional packages.

Tickets for the paid shows can be obtained through the festival kiosk at Bahrain City Centre or at the venue on the day of the performance, space permitting. – TradeArabia News Service
