Air Canada 787-800 Dreamliner

Wego, Air Canada ink strategic tie-up

Singapore, February 20, 2014

Wego, a leading metasearch site in Asia Pacific and Middle East has announced a partnership and integration with North America’s only Skytrax 4-star airline, Air Canada.

The partnership comes on the heels of Air Canada announcing expanded capacity to Asia as well the selection of Tokyo and Tel Aviv as the international launch routes of their Boeing 787 debuting in July 2014.

“Partnering with Air Canada is something we are very excited about at Wego,” said Dean Wicks, chief flights officer for Wego. “Their plan to extend their routes through Europe to the Middle East and Asia (Wego’s current core markets), is not only great for Canada but also extremely convenient for US travellers, with numerous connection options through their modern hubs in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.”

Air Canada’s efforts go beyond new routes and aircraft. It is also tailoring facilities at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport to assist business travellers from the US in connecting seamlessly with long-haul flights to Asia, another plus for Wego users.

“We are very excited to partner with such a prominent player in the Asia Pacific region,” said Graham Wareham, senior director Distribution and Consumer at Air Canada.

“Wego’s vast traveller network in such key growth markets as Asia-Pacific and the Middle East will now have access to all of the industry leading products that make Air Canada North America’s only Skytrax Four Star Airline, including our brand new Boeing 787s that will be flying to Tokyo and Tel Aviv.”

Wego will allocate Air Canada with ‘Route Sponsorship’ premium placement on the site, increasing their marketing and branding exposure on selected city pairs, with a very visual and prominent positioning within search results.

“Our partner airlines have been reporting impressive results in bookings with Route Sponsorship placement and it’s wonderful to see Wego’s consistently improving advanced technology that we’ve committed to this year providing our travel partners, and ultimately our users, with these unique opportunities,” added Wicks.

“With Wego’s popularity growing in both North and South America, the addition of Canada’s flagship carrier will open up a world of options to our users to ensure they get the best airfares and flight selections.”

Wego’s extensive airline inventory continues to grow rapidly, available on Wego’s 52 localised country sites in 30 languages. Air Canada flights are now live in Wego’s flight search at wego.com/flights. – TradeArabia News Service
