Emirates loses 'best airline' title to Cathay Pacific

Dubai, July 17, 2014

Dubai-based airline Emirates has lost its title of the world's best airline to Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, said a report.

The airline topped the polled last year, followed by Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines, which Hong Kong-based Cathay was sixth, said the 7Days report.

This year, however, Emirates came in fourth, behind Cathay, Qatar and Singapore, it said.

UAE’s national carrier Etihad Airways also dropped from its seventh position last year to ninth.

The awards were decided after travellers around the globe were asked to vote for their favourite travel experiences between August last year and May this year, said the report.

The passengers from more than 160 countries took part, covering 245 airlines. The survey measured standards across 41 key performance indicators of airline products and services, it added.
