QAIA...positive growth

QAIA reports positive growth trend

AMMAN, December 2, 2014

Jordan's Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) registered record growth in aircraft movements (ACM) during October, surging 7.6% per cent, in comparison to the same period last year.

Passenger traffic (PAX) increased by 1.3 per cent in October to come in at 608,605 PAX compared to 600,855 PAX over the same month last year.

“October’s positive results were mainly driven by a tangible increase in leisure and expat travel to and from Egypt, Turkey, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE. QAIA has been registering robust PAX and ACM growth throughout the past ten months,” said Kjeld Binger, CEO, Airport International Group (AIG) – a Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation, expansion and operation of QAIA.

From the beginning of 2014 until October year-to-date (YTD), PAX rose by 10.6 per cent to reach 6,162,914 as opposed to 5,570,634 PAX during the same period in 2013.

Year-to-date ACM reached 62,561, represented by a 9.3 per cent increase over the same period last year. – TradeArabia News Service
