Dubai Airport...ensuring smooth operations amidst seasonal rush

Dubai Airports issues smart travel tips

DUBAI, December 15, 2014

In anticipation of the peak seasonal rush, Dubai Airports said it is taking all precautionary measures and has issued an advisory for passengers to ease their travel through Dubai International Airport.

Dubai Airports, which owns and manages the operation of both Dubai International as well as Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC), has appealed to the passengers to come atleast three hours ahead at the airport for check-in and passport control.

Customers can also check with the airline in advance for information on baggage allowance, said the statement from Dubai Airports.

The operator made it clear that airlines will not accept a single unit of baggage weighing more than 32 kg at check-in, irrespective of allowance.

Travellers have also been requested to pack liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) in their check-in baggage. The amount of LAGs permitted on-board in the hand baggage is not more than 100 ml each and a total content of one litre of all items. Items should be wrapped in a re-sealable plastic bag, it stated.

To save time at the security screening, travellers have been advised to put anything metal - watch, jewellery, mobile phone, coins and belt – into their hand luggage well before arriving at the X-ray machine.

Dubai Airports said the flyers can beat the queues at the airport by checking-in online or using the self-service check-in kiosks at the departure halls.

Customers with baggage can make use of the quick-baggage drop counters, while those carrying only hand luggage can proceed directly to Immigration, it stated.

The passengers have also been asked to make use of the e-Gate card to avoid queuing at passport control, both while arriving and on departure. These eGate cards can be obtained from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigner Affairs (immigration) counters in the departure areas of all terminals for a fee, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
