Meydan Hotels appoints new director of sales

Reuben Mifsud, cluster general manager, Meydan Hotels & Hospitality, has announced the appointment of Anne Liyanage as the director of sales for The Meydan Hotel and Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa.
Liyanage has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality and travel sectors in Sri Lanka, Australia and the UAE.
In her new role, Liyanage will provide leadership and strategic direction for the cluster sales team and will oversee the sales operation and business development of Meydan Hotels & Hospitality portfolio featuring the award-winning The Meydan Hotel and Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa.
“Anne is a dynamic team player and an extremely passionate leader with a strong people management skills. She is the ideal candidate for this role aiming to raise our stature in the industry and to position The Meydan Hotel and Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa as the first choice in Dubai for MICE, leisure and business guests,” said Mifsud.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Liyanage started her profession in the airline industry in Colombo. In 1999, Anne joined the hospitality sector, where she assumed sales roles in regional and international hotel chains in the UAE.
Liyanage holds an MBA from University of Liverpool, UK and a Master’s degree in hospitality management from Cornell University, US. - TradeArabia News Service
