Turkish Airlines’ load factor crosses 83pc in October

ISTANBUL, November 17, 2019

October turned out to be a good month for Turkish Airlines, which posted a load factor of 83.3 per cent for the month.

According to the carrier's passenger and cargo traffic results for October 2019, the total number of passengers carried during the month reached 6.6 million, with domestic load factor hitting 86.2 per cent, and international load factor nearing 82.9 per cent.

International-to-international transfer passengers (transit passengers) increased by 8 per cent, and international passengers excluding the transit passengers increased by 9.7 per cent compared to the same period of last year, which is the highest growth since the beginning of the year.

Additionally, the national flag carrier realised double-digit increases in passenger numbers from the Middle East and the Far East, going up by 11.5 per cent and 11.4 per cent, respectively, for the month.

In October, cargo/mail volume increased by 7.9 per cent, compared to the same period of 2018. The main contributors to the growth in cargo/mail volume were Europe with 10,9 per cent, Far East with 10.2 per cent, and North America with a 4.6 per cent increase.

Between January and October, passenger numbers totalled 63.1  million, with total load factor reaching 81.6 per cent during the 10-month period.  International load factor for January to October was 80.9 per cent while domestic load factor hit 86.4 per cent.

International-to-international transfer passengers carried during the 10-month period increased by 4.3 per cent and cargo/mail carried during the same period increased by 9.3 per cent and to reach 1.3 million tons. - TradeArabia News Service
