UAE-based aluminium giant Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) will highlight the growing importance of the country's primary aluminium industry to the European market with a strong appearance at a major event in Germany.
The Aluminium 2014 World Trade Fair & Conference, being held in Dusseldorf, from October 7 to 9, is regarded as the world's leading trade show and B2B platform for the aluminium industry, bringing together the full spectrum – from producers, manufacturers, processors and suppliers to end-consumers.
EGA is the jointly-owned aluminium conglomerate formed by Mubadala Development Corporation and Investment Corporation of Dubai through combining their respective aluminium industry assets.
This year will mark EGA’s first attendance as a single entity: EGA’s core operating assets – Dubai Aluminium (Dubal) and Emirates Aluminium Company (Emal) -- have participated in previous Aluminium World Trade Fair & Conferences.
Europe is a vital market for EGA, the company's products are already being used extensively by the European Union’s automotive industry and aerospace industry.
Walid Al Attar, chief marketing officer at EGA, said the company is looking to pursue further growth opportunities in the European market.
“Nearly a quarter of the metal produced by Dubal and Emal in 2013 was shipped to the region. Given that the European Union needs to import approximately 60 per cent of its primary aluminium requirements, there is abundant opportunity for us to achieve continued growth in Europe,” said Al Attar.
EGA’s ability to meet the anticipated growth in demand has been enhanced by the commissioning of Emal Phase II, which raised EGA’s total production capacity to 2.4 million tonnes per year. This has placed the company among the top five aluminium producers in the world (by volume), and ranked the UAE as the fourth largest aluminium producing country.
Other advantages for EGA lie in the ideal location of the Middle East to serve Europe from a geographic, economic and freight perspective.
Attesting to EGA’s commitment to the EU market, the company already has dedicated offices in Zurich and Milan, and supports this presence with a comprehensive infrastructure of discharge port facilities and warehouses that enable timely deliveries to aluminium end-users across Europe.
EGA’s product range combines high quality aluminium products in three main categories: high purity and foundry re-melt products (for electronics and aerospace and automotive applications respectively); rolled products (for packaging, lithographic sheets and the automotive industry); and billets for extrusion and forging (for construction, industrial, transportation and automotive purposes). - TradeArabia News Service
