Mazad, a local portfolio company of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) mandated with overseeing Bahrain's public and electronic auctions, has launched an online auction featuring vehicle number plates starting with ‘67’. The auction began on Sunday, August the 13, 2023, and will run until the August 30, 2023.
 
This will be the first digital auction held to release a new series of vehicle number plates in Bahrain and will feature a variety of sought-after numbers for those interested in purchasing a unique number plate. The available options will include: 670000, 677777, 676767 and 677776 – as well as many other desirable combinations of numbers. Everyone is welcome to participate in the auction and there is no limit on the amount of number plates that an individual can purchase, a release said.
 
The auction is expected to attract a great deal of public interest as number plate auctions are becoming more popular in the region and attracts people from all segments of society. These digital auctions are integral to Mazad’s identity as the company aims to provide auctions that are open, transparent and fair.
 
Simple and accessible
Talal Al Araifi, Chief Executive Officer of Mazad, said: “The digitalisation of the auction process reflects our continued commitment to providing bidding processes that are simple and accessible, with digital procedures that attract a broad spectrum of people.” 
 
“The online system guarantees fair opportunities for all those interested in acquiring these distinctive vehicle number plates. We are keen to utilise the latest digital technologies when it comes to our auctions, and we work with various entities to ensure that their assets are displayed with full transparency, integrity, competitiveness and sustainability," he added.
 
The auction is organised in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic, and follows a series of successful auctions which have been facilitated by Mazad in recent years. Since its inception, the company has successfully supervised the sale of more than 11,500 premium number plates, with total revenues amounting to approximately BD11.4 million ($30.19 million).
 
 
Mazad invites all those wishing to participate in the public auction to register on its new application; “Mazad – Auctions & More”, which is available on the Apple Store and on Google Play. 
 
Customers can also participate through the Mazad website: www.Mazad.app. Those wishing to bid will be required to place a deposit for insurance purposes which will be returned upon the auction’s cessation (in the instance that no purchases have been made). Successful bidders will receive a certificate of ownership for their number plate.
