Saudi-based umm Al Qura for Development and Construction Company has announced that Al Inma First Development Company Limited and Al Inma Second Development Company Limited have awarded contracts worth SAR4.1 billion ($1.1 billion) for two superstructure development projects "Packages A and B" within its premium Masar Destination.
A landmark urban development in Makkah, Masar Destination boasts a mix of hospitality, commercial, retail and residential offerings alongside cultural centres. Extending over 1.2 million sq m, it will create an integrated gateway leading directly to the Grand Mosque.
The company said Al Inma First Development Company and Al Inma Second Development Company - both special purpose vehicles for Al Inma Makkah Development Fund I and II, wholly owned by Umm Al Qura - awarded the contracts after terminating a previous main contractor for material breaches.
Package A, valued at SAR3.2 billion, was awarded to Mounes Mohammed Elshayeb and Partners for Civil Construction Company (Mobco), said Umm Al Qura in its filing to Saudi bourse Tadawul.
The package includes four hospitality towers and two commercial centres across six plots in zone one of the Masar project.
The Package B, worth SAR899 million, was awarded to BEC Arabia Contracting Company which will be responsible for building three hospitality towers on two plots in zone three of the development, said the company in its statement.
Both these packages will be completed within a 30-month period, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
