Bahrain, Bermuda explore deeper economic co-operation

Bermuda, a British island territory in the North Atlantic Ocean, and Bahrain discussed ways to deepen collaboration in multiple potential sectors during the official visit of David Burt, JP, MP, the Premier of Bermuda, to the kingdom.

Burt today (February 1) visited the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB) where he was received by Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, the Minister of Sustainable Development, Chief Executive of Bahrain EDB, and Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and Bermuda’s Special Representative - Middle East, alongside senior officials from the investment promotion agency’s management team. 

During the meeting, Noor bint Ali reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to fostering international partnerships, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, highlighting the kingdom’s numerous competitive advantages, including its strategic location, agile regulatory framework, and highly talented workforce, which have reinforced the kingdom’s position as gateway for investment in the region, said EDB in a statement. 

Following the visit, the Premier of Bermuda highlighted the strong similarities between Bahrain and Bermuda as agile, forward-looking island economies. 

He showcased Bermuda’s established strengths in financial services, particularly in insurance and reinsurance, and emphasized the strong complementarity with Bahrain’s long-standing position as a regional financial hub, said the statement. 

He also reiterated the opportunity for deepening collaboration with the Kingdom, highlighting the various potential areas for cooperation, it added. 

Bahrain EDB is an investment promotion agency with overall responsibility for attracting investment into the kingdom and supporting initiatives that enhance the investment climate.

It focuses on several economic sectors that capitalise on Bahrain's competitive advantages and provide significant investment opportunities. These include financial services, manufacturing, logistics, ICT and tourism.-TradeArabia News Service
