India has approved resumption of regular international flight operations from March 27 according to a Civil Aviation Ministry announcement.
The decision comes after a two-year suspension of international flights due to coronavirus.
"After having recognised the increased vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with the stakeholders, the government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services," the ministry of civil aviation said in a statement.
"With increasing vaccination coverage across the globe and after consultation with all the important stakeholders, scheduled commercial international flights will be resumed to/from India from 27.03.2022," said the ministry in a tweet.
Scheduled international flight services have remained suspended in India since March 23, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, special passenger flights have been functioning between India and about 40 countries under air bubble arrangements.
The suspension of scheduled commercial international flights to/from India stands extended till 2359 hrs IST on 26.03.2022 and air bubble arrangements shall accordingly be extended to this extent only, the ministry said. -TradeArabia News Service
