Ajman Tourism unveils Artisans Majlis to support cultural heritage

The Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media has launched the Artisans Majlis, an initiative dedicated to preserving traditional Emirati crafts, empowering artisans and supporting the growth of the creative economy in the emirate.

The initiative aligns with Ajman Vision 2030, focusing on cultural identity, national talent development and sustainable economic and social growth.

The Majlis will provide a platform for artisans, designers and creative entrepreneurs through training programmes, workshops, exhibitions and cultural initiatives that promote local craftsmanship.

The initiative aims to document and preserve Emirati heritage crafts while encouraging the development of contemporary handcrafted products and expanding their presence locally and internationally.

It will also strengthen partnerships with cultural, educational and creative institutions to enhance opportunities for artisans and entrepreneurs.

The Artisans Majlis will support a diverse group of stakeholders, including Emirati craftsmen, young talents, designers, cultural organisations and visitors.

It will also provide opportunities for People of Determination to participate in training, exhibitions and creative programmes, reinforcing Ajman’s commitment to inclusion and sustainable development.

Mahmood Alhashmi, Director General of the Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media, emphasised that the launch of the Artisans Majlis represents a strategic step within the Department’s efforts to preserve Emirati cultural heritage as a key pillar of national identity, while translating the vision of the wise leadership in safeguarding heritage and enhancing its contribution to sustainable development.

He said:"We believe that artisans are partners in shaping the future, and that empowering them has a positive impact on the creative economy by transforming traditional crafts into sustainable products that reflect the authenticity of Emirati society and meet the demands of the modern era. The Majlis will work towards building an integrated ecosystem that brings together artisans, designers, entrepreneurs, and cultural institutions to exchange expertise, develop skills, preserve Emirati heritage, present it through innovative approaches, and enhance Ajman’s position as a centre for creativity and cultural industries." -TradeArabia News Service
