Topsoe, a provider of advanced technology and solutions for the energy transition, and Sasol, a chemicals and energy company, have signed a licensing agreement with Allied Biofuels to supply key technologies for a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility in Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region.
Under the deal, Topsoe and Sasol will provide the core
technology licence, engineering design package and technical services for the
project’s eSAF production pathway.
The facility will combine Topsoe’s SynCOR technology with
Sasol’s Fischer-Tropsch process to produce SAF from biomass, green hydrogen and
carbon dioxide, enabling flexible feedstock use.
The agreement supports Allied Biofuels’ $6.1 billion
integrated clean fuels project, one of Central Asia’s largest aviation fuel
developments, aimed at supplying domestic, regional and international markets.
The project comes as global demand for SAF accelerates,
driven by tighter regulations, including the EU’s ReFuelEU Aviation mandate
requiring fuel suppliers to provide a 1.2 per cent share of eSAF by 2030,
increasing to 35 per cent by 2050.
