Zain Group, a leading TechCo providing innovative ICT and digital communications in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa, has reported a 1.4% rise in second-quarter net profit attributable to shareholders, as higher ebitda offset a decline in revenue amid regional geopolitical challenges.
Announcing the results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, Zain Bahrain said the net profit attributable to shareholders rose to BD1.39 million ($3.69 million) in the three months ended June 30 from BD1.37 million a year earlier. Basic and diluted earnings per share were unchanged at 4 fils.
However, the revenue for the period fell 3.9% to BD19.46 million from BD20.24 million in the year-earlier quarter, which the company attributed to continued regional geopolitical tensions and related market challenges.
Quarterly EBITDA increased 1.7% to BD5.81 million, up from BD5.71 million a year earlier.
For the first half of 2026, net profit attributable to shareholders rose 1.2% to BD2.57 million from BD2.54 million in the corresponding period of 2025, while earnings per share remained at 7 fils.
First-half revenue declined 1.9% to BD40.48 million from BD41.25 million, while ebitda increased 1.5% to BD11.26 million.
As of June 30, shareholders' equity stood at BD89.93 million compared with BD90.75 million at the end of 2025. Total assets increased to BD154.41 million from BD147.79 million.
On the Q2 performance, Chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa said the company maintained operational resilience despite regional challenges and completed the acquisition of Infonas, a move he said would strengthen Zain Bahrain's enterprise and digital solutions business.
“During the second quarter of 2026, Zain Bahrain continued to execute its strategic priorities despite the exceptional challenges witnessed across the region. Throughout this period, the company demonstrated strong operational resilience, maintaining the continuity and efficiency of its operations while consistently delivering reliable connectivity and advanced digital experiences, driven by the strength of its infrastructure and the readiness and unwavering commitment of its people,” he stated.
“This performance reflects Zain Bahrain’s strong market position and demonstrates its agility and ability to sustain growth while continuing to meet the evolving needs of its customers under all circumstances,” noted Shaikh Ahmed.
“One of the most significant achievements of the quarter was the completion of Zain Bahrain’s acquisition of 100% of Infonas's share capital, marking a major strategic milestone in the company’s growth journey. The acquisition further strengthens Zain Bahrain’s position as a trusted digital partner to enterprises and international partners, while accelerating the company’s long-term strategy of strategic diversification and sustainable growth across high-value enterprise segments. It also broadens Zain Bahrain’s capabilities and reinforces its presence in Bahrain’s rapidly evolving technology and digital solutions sector,” he added.
During the quarter, the company also expanded its enterprise artificial intelligence offerings through its OneCX platform, renewed a partnership with Bahrain's Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications to provide connectivity services for government entities, and launched new consumer mobile plans and youth-focused offerings.
Zain Bahrain said it would continue to focus on expanding its enterprise technology portfolio following the Infonas acquisition and on supporting Bahrain's digital transformation strategy.
On its future outlook, Shaikh Ahmed said: “Zain Bahrain enters the next phase with confidence, focused on accelerating growth, expanding its operations, and strengthening its position across strategic sectors with significant long-term potential.”
The company will leverage the acquisition of Infonas and its expertise to broaden and deepen its portfolio of advanced technology and digital solutions for the enterprise market, he stated.
“It will also continue to develop more integrated capabilities and capture the opportunities created by emerging technologies, supporting Bahrain’s national digital transformation priorities and contributing to a more efficient, innovative, and globally competitive economy, in alignment with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and Zain Group’s 4WARD – Progress with Purpose strategy,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
