Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Spain gain ground among Kuwaiti travellers: Wego

Kuwaiti travellers are increasingly exploring new destinations this August, with Mediterranean city breaks and South Asian getaways gaining momentum, according to the latest search trends from Wego.

Tunisia recorded the strongest growth, with searches rising 54% compared with the same period last year.

Sri Lanka followed with a 30% increase, while Spain saw travel searches climb 19%.

Spain’s growth was particularly notable in Madrid, where searches surged 73%, and Malaga, which recorded a 14% rise.

The trends point to a broader shift in travel preferences among Kuwaiti holidaymakers, who are increasingly looking beyond established summer destinations in favour of destinations offering diverse experiences, good value and convenient air connectivity.

Value remains an important consideration as travellers seek to make the most of their holiday budgets while discovering new places.

The data suggests that exploring unfamiliar destinations is becoming an increasingly important part of summer travel planning, alongside visits to long-standing favourites.

Despite the rise of emerging destinations, traditional choices continue to perform strongly. Egypt, Türkiye, Thailand and the United Kingdom remain among the most searched destinations for August travel, underlining their enduring appeal to families, couples and leisure travellers.

The latest trends indicate that Kuwaiti travellers are balancing familiarity with discovery, creating a more diverse mix of destinations during the peak summer season.

Booking behaviour is also reflecting changing priorities. Wego data shows that the average booking window for August departures is currently around 31 days, suggesting that many travellers are planning their summer holidays roughly a month in advance.

Search demand is strongest for departures during the first two weeks of August, as travellers organise holidays around the remaining weeks of the summer season.

Overall, the latest Wego data highlights a more varied travel landscape for Kuwaiti travellers, with emerging destinations gaining ground while established summer favourites continue to attract substantial interest.

Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, said: "Kuwaiti travellers are showing an increasing interest in exploring destinations beyond the traditional summer favourites. Our latest search trends reflect a growing willingness to discover new places that combine accessibility, value, and memorable travel experiences. While established destinations continue to perform strongly, we're seeing travellers diversify their choices and seek destinations that offer something different, whether through unique landscapes, cultural experiences, or seasonal appeal." -TradeArabia News Service
