Oman’s natural gas production, including local output and imports, increased 6.4 per cent by the end of July 2026, reaching 34.98 billion cubic metres, compared with 32.88 billion cubic metres during the same period in 2025, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Associated gas production rose 7.8 per cent to 7.88 billion cubic metres, up from 7.31 billion cubic metres a year earlier.

Non-associated gas production, including imports, increased 6 per cent to 27.10 billion cubic metres, compared with 25.57 billion cubic metres in the corresponding period of 2025.

Natural gas consumption also increased across key sectors. Industrial projects consumed 17.33 billion cubic metres, marking a 5.9 per cent rise from 16.37 billion cubic metres a year earlier.

Gas consumption at power generation plants recorded the strongest increase among major sectors, rising 13.7 per cent to 10.01 billion cubic metres from 8.80 billion cubic metres during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, gas consumption in oil fields, including losses, meter discrepancies and shrinkage factors, edged down 0.2 per cent to 7.53 billion cubic metres, compared with 7.54 billion cubic metres in 2025.

Consumption in industrial areas, including industrial estates and Oman LNG, recorded a sharper decline of 31.2 per cent, falling to 111 million cubic metres from 161.4 million cubic metres.

The figures highlight continued growth in Oman’s gas production alongside rising demand from industrial and power generation activities during the first seven months of 2026. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
