Bahrain’s Minister of Tourism and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) Chairperson Fatima Al Sairafi participated in the 26th World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, held in Valletta, Malta, from October 7 to 9, 2026.
The summit brought together ministers, global CEOs, industry
leaders and experts to discuss the key trends and challenges shaping the future
of travel and tourism.
Al Sairafi joined ministers and global business leaders
during the "Global Leaders Dialogue" session, which examined shifts
affecting competitiveness across the travel and tourism sector.
Discussions focused on strengthening destinations’ ability
to adapt to global changes, facilitating the movement of travellers and
capital, and enhancing government-private sector partnerships to attract
investment and support sustainable growth.
Bahrain’s participation followed an official invitation from
the WTTC in cooperation with the Malta Tourism Authority.
The Kingdom’s presence provided an opportunity to exchange
expertise and perspectives on the future of tourism while exploring emerging
international trends and practices.
Held under the theme "Future (RE)set: Shaping the
Future of Travel & Tourism", the summit examined major transformations
affecting the global sector and opportunities for future growth and investment.
Key topics included seamless travel experiences, the growing
role of artificial intelligence, sustainability, innovation and technology’s
impact on the tourism ecosystem.
The WTTC Global Summit serves as a major international
platform connecting governments and the private sector to discuss policies and
opportunities that can drive tourism growth and strengthen its contribution to
