Oman expects 6pc growth

Muscat, March 16, 2010

Oman will continue to maintain its currency peg to the dollar, and expects economic growth to rise to 6 percent in 2010, the sultanate's central bank head Hamood Sangour Al-Zadjali, said on Tuesday.

'We shall continue to maintain that peg,' Al-Zadjali told Reuters on the sidelines of an economic conference.

When asked whether there were any other policy options considered for the currency at the moment, he said: 'No'.

'It (economic growth) will be very positive for Oman. It will be around 6 percent,' he said. -Reuters
