Ithmaar backs major student summit

Manama, April 9, 2012

Ithmaar Bank, a Bahrain-based Islamic retail-focused bank, extended its support as a gold sponsor to organisers of a regional student conference that starts in Bahrain tomorrow (April 10).

The GCC Universities Conference is being held at the University of Bahrain (UOB) and brings together students from all Bahrain’s universities, as well as representatives from across the GCC, to discuss student challenges and opportunities, including preparation for their professional careers.

The highlight of the three-day event will be a paper delivered by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa on student-related affairs.

“Ithmaar’s participation is a reflection of our commitment to the community and, in particular, to our youth,” said Ithmaar Bank chief executive officer and member of the board, Mohammed Bucheerei.

“It is a commitment we take very, very serious, and we are delighted at the opportunity to support such a major initiative,” he said.

“We are particularly pleased to be able to support an event that focuses exclusively on university students and brings together the region’s future leaders to discuss their collection challenges opportunities,” said Bucheerei.

“The fact that such a major event, with two thousand participants from across the region, is being organised almost entirely by university students is testimony to the remarkable talent and impressive potential of our youth – and that is something in which we should all take deep pride,” he added.

In appreciation of Ithmaar’s support, the UOB dean of Student Affairs, Dr Adnan al Tamimi, presented a commemorative plaque to Bucheerei in presence of Ithmaar Bank executive general manager Juma Abull and GCC Universities Conference event organisers. – TradeArabia News Service
