DWC to highlight major projects at show

Dubai, April 18, 2009

Dubai World Central (DWC), the 140 sq km, multi-phase urban land development at Jebel Ali, will highlight its major real estate projects at an upcoming property event, according to a statement.

Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2009, an international real estate development event, will open tomorrow (April 19) and run until April 22 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

DWC will have a 300 sq mt stand at the event which will highlight its real estate components such as DWC Residential City, DWC Commercial City and DWC Golf City.

DWC staff will be on hand to provide all the necessary information and respond to inquiries from Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2009 participants, said the report.

Events like Cityscape Abu Dhabi are important, especially during these times, in order to highlight to the market that contrary to some reports, a lot of real estate projects are continuing as planned.

Such events are vital in order to lift up the otherwise gloomy real estate market sentiment and provide the necessary focus for investors and buyers that it is still business as usual for quite a number of real estate developers, specifically DWC Real Estate.

DWC Residential City is DWC’s mid-income housing segment that has generated tremendous interest from developers as evidenced by its successful sale of Phase 1 and 2 of its five-phased development.

Once completed, an estimated 250,000 people are expected to live in this city, aside from approximately 20,000 that would be employed within the project.

On the other hand, DWC Commercial City will be DWC’s business and financial hub that will feature several hundreds of towers ranging from 1 to 45 storeys in height.

An estimated 150,000 people are expected to work within this city that will have a total population of 450,000. This project will also feature 25 hotels ranging from deluxe, through to five-star, four-star and three-star properties.

In addition, DWC Commercial City will have a mix of sport and leisure clubs, lakeside environments, retail destinations, showrooms, a water-edged destination, luxury fashion boutiques, a hub for creative and media industries, finance and banking hub, lots of open public spaces and several parks.

The third component under DWC Real Estate is DWC Golf City which will have five golf courses featuring a total of 72 holes, extensive practice facilities, driving ranges, putting greens, a luxury clubhouse with restaurants and a pro-shop.

In addition, it will have over 25,000 freehold units that will surround the courses, and a resort that will feature a high-end boutique hotel. An estimated 20,000 people will work here and close to 150,000 are expected to live in this high-end city.

Dubai World Central, as an urban land project, will be fully operational with all civic amenities across all components between 2015 and 2020. – TradeArabia News Service
