Bahrain highway revamp work completed

The Bahrain Ministry of Works has completed the revamp works at King Faisal Highway in line with its plan to solve traffic congestion problems in the Kingdom by increasing the capacity of the roads network.
The Ministry of Works’ undersecretary Waleed Al Saie, who inspected the work at King Faisal detour road project, said the project was in line with its plan to boost the capacity of the road network through increase in the number of lanes on the main highways and also by developing main interchanges in the Kingdom.
The BD5 million ($13 million) project, considered to be one of the most important road projects implemented by the Ministry, was awarded to Ahmed Mansoor Al A’Ali. The design and supervision tender was awarded to Hyder Consulting.
Al Saei pointed out that on an average 200,000 vehicles passed through the vital King Faisal Highway every day.
He stressed the importance of completing the project at the earliest, taking into account the role this highway will play in alleviating traffic congestions in the vital and active area in the Kingdom.
He urged authorities to take care of the aesthetic aspects involved in the project, in addition to speeding up the signage works and implementing safety barriers on the sides of the highway to protect pedestrians and drivers.-TradeArabia News Service
