Bahrain’s ministries and state departments have been instructed to follow up on implementation of government projects and daily work of public facilities through field visits to make sure that they meet goals and provide quality services to citizens.

This came as HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting, our sister newspaper, the Gulf  Daily News reported.

The Cabinet reviewed a memorandum presented by the Minister of State for Implementation on the progress of a government work plan for the years 2011-14. The memo noted that 63 per cent of projects in the government's work plan for 2011 and 2012 have already been completed.

The reasons for the delay of the remaining projects were discussed and the memo was referred to the ministerial committee for services and infrastructure.

The Housing Minister presented a memo saying that a total of 6,334 housing units were constructed and 90 tenders, costing BD164 million ($435.01), were rewarded last year.

The Cabinet endorsed farm incubators, to be supported by the Islamic Development Bank through training and provision of glass houses. This is in line with the government's desire to create new job opportunities for job seekers.

The session reviewed and referred to the ministerial committee for legal affairs a draft headquarters agreement to be signed between the GoB and the executive board of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Ministers council and the by-law of the GCC Emergency Management Centre.

The ministers discussed a number of proposals to boost tourism and preserve Bahraini cultural heritage and national identity.

The Cabinet approved four proposals submitted by parliament, among them granting incentives and care to sickle cell patients similar to those enjoyed by people with special needs and building a secondary school for boys in Arad. – TradeArabia News Service
