GCC ‘appealing to foreign schools’

Dubai, May 28, 2012

The GCC is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for foreign education institutions as more students in the region achieve at higher levels, said Pearson, a leading global education company.

Pearson, which offers collaborative teaching and learning solutions for school, campus, online and blended learning environments, made the remarks while announcing the company’s sponsorship of the Gulf Education Conference & Exhibition, which opened today (may 28) in Hilton Metropole Hotel in London.

Gulf Education London 2012 is a strategic two-day event that provides substantial opportunities for international businesses in the education sector to create partnerships and strike up meaningful business agreements with GCC countries.

The event brings together some of the region’s most powerful decision makers in the education sector, including ministers from across the Gulf region and key business leaders from across Europe and the Middle East. It also plays host to some of the largest and most influential education providers in the UK and Europe.

Grant Holdom, vice president of Pearson in the Gulf said: “Pearson is committed to being at the forefront of educational developments in the GCC and right around the world. Given the importance of this event, we know there will be great opportunities for groups from both regions to forge productive, new partnerships.”

“We know that our clients here in the Gulf are demanding more and more sophisticated learning products, all the way from kindergarten through to post graduate study, including English language training at all levels.”

“Institutions are asking for the very latest in both traditional learning tools, as well as powerful online and cloud technology. Pearson will be showcasing its full range of educational products and services at the event to demonstrate the cutting edge solutions we can offer,” Holdom added.

By combining content, assessment and technology, Pearson provides greater opportunities for people to make progress in their lives through education, he said.

“As sponsors of Gulf Education, Pearson's focus will be on sharing knowledge, experience, best practices and success stories in educational endeavours in the Gulf region,” Holdom noted.

“At the event, Pearson will be hosting a series of talks, discussions and workshops to explore new and more effective strategies and tools for education, including higher education, schools, professional development and applied and vocational learning,” he added.

The Gulf's education sector is witnessing dramatic changes. Pearson has been at the forefront of this transformation, driving educational gains in the GCC through its award-winning educational technologies, solutions and products, he said.

“Building meaningful, lasting partnerships between educational organisations in the Gulf and Europe will help maintain the momentum created by improvements to the Gulf education sector seen over the past decade and help the region continue as a leading player in transformational education reform,” Holdom concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
