Tamkeen to host major conference for SMEs

Manama, December 22, 2012

Leading Bahraini entrepreneurs and service providers from various sectors will be taking part in the first Tamkeen Conference and Exhibition to be held in Manama from January 7 to 8.

Bahrain labour fund Tamkeen said the event is part of Tamkeen's efforts to support the private sector and empower Bahrainis to make them the employees of choice.

Around 80 entrepreneurs who benefited from Tamkeen programmes as well as partners and certified service providers are expected to attend the event to be held at the Gulf Hotel, said a statement from Tamkeen.

Participating enterprises will have their stands arranged according to their business sectors so that visitors will find it easy to tour the exhibition and see how Tamkeen programmes have impacted the business projects of the participants and stimulated their growth.

This is in addition to giving them the opportunity to sign up for or learn about the programmes that Tamkeen offers to support enterprises and citizens across all sectors, the statement added.

The exhibition will also include an "Achievements Wall" near the main entrance to the exhibition hall. In a creative visual display, the wall will showcase Tamkeen's most important achievements and milestones since its establishment in 2006.

Parallel to the exhibition, which will be held at Al Dana Hall at the Gulf Conventions Center in the Gulf Hotel, a conference and a series of interactive workshops will also be organised.

The conference will focus on Tamkeen’s achievements and the role of entrepreneurship and the private sector in advancing conomic development, while the workshops, which will be led by prominent experts, will discuss the best international practices for key topics that benefit entrepreneurs and SMEs in Bahrain such as marketing strategies, quality assurance systems, use of social media, efficient participation in exhibitions, ways to apply to e-tenders, basics of entrepreneurship success, and  sound strategic planning.

Commenting on the initiative,Tamkeen’s marketing communications manager Hala Ahmed Sulaiman said, "The conference and exhibition will provide a valuable opportunity to see firsthand our various programmes designed to empower the private sector by providing both support for SMEs and training opportunities for the Bahraini labor force."

To date, more than 65,000 citizens and establishments have benefited from Tamkeen's initiatives. Plans are set to raise the total number of beneficiaries to 100,000, she added.-TradeArabia News Service
