Tamkeen launches 'Mashroo3i' Youth awards

Manama, October 23, 2013

Bahrain's labour fund Tamkeen has begun the registration for the second edition of its “Mashroo3i” youth business plan competition which is open to all Bahrainis aged between 15 and 23 years.

“Mashroo3i” is designed to inspire a bold new generation to be open-minded and take a positive step towards a bright future. The awards reflect creativity, innovation and enthusiasm and will encourage Bahraini youth to have an open attitude towards business as an option for their future career, said a statement from Tamkeen.

This year’s competition is designed to involve more engagement between participants and the public. To register, applicants must submit the video of their business idea online or provide a brief description of their idea on the competition’s official website www.mashroo3i.bh.

The “Mashroo3i” Mentors will evaluate the aspiring participants’ business ideas and select the most original, innovative and promising entries.
In addition, 5 bonus entries will be selected from the public shortlist through online voting, the statement added.

Many prominent members of the country’s business, education and social fields support Mashroo3i Youth Business Awards through their involvement as mentors and judges during the competition.

The deadline for registration for the competition has been set at November 24.

On the initiative, Tamkeen’s acting VP (Human Capital Development) Amal Al Kooheji said: “Our goal is to create a movement towards entrepreneurship in Bahrain. We are excited to see the level of creativity and innovation through this year’s competition which will also give them the opportunity to practically understand business planning and the path towards entrepreneurship.”

“Mashroo3i” has been launched in schools and malls to inspire the youth to join the entrepreneurship movement and feel empowered and independent. The message of the awareness campaign is a call to Bahraini youth to draw their own vision for their future, said the statement.

Moreover, Tamkeen has been working with the Ministry of Education as well to spread the word about youth entrepreneurship, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
