Forum to probe safety in fertiliser industry

The International Fertiliser Association (IFA) will hold its first Safety, Health and Environment Conference for the fertiliser industry from March 14 to 18 in Bahrain.

The event will be held under the patronage of Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and National Oil and Gas Authority chairman Dr Abdulhussain Mirza.

Major Gulf, Arab and international companies that import and produce fertilisers and their by-products will take part in the event.

Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) will be the sponsor of this important conference that will be organised for the first time in Bahrain. The event will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa.

GPIC general manager Abdul Rahman Jawahery said this co-operation with IFA is clear evidence of the its confidence in the fertiliser industry in the Gulf states and the ability of the kingdom to attract and organise such international events.

Mr Jawahery added such participation takes place under the directives of Advisor of the Prime Minister for Industrial and Oil Affairs and GPIC chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa and other members of the board.

He further said this conference will attract regional and international companies to discuss several topics that will be dealt with in the work papers to be presented. It will also be an event to familiarise the delegates with the latest developments in the industry.

Taking part in this event will be leading Gulf companies such as Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, Qatar's Qafco, Kuwait's Petrochemical Industries Company and Fertil of the UAE in addition to many major Arab and international companies.-TradeArabia News Service
