Banagas seeks to extend safety record

Manama, July 8, 2010

Bahrain's national gas company Banagas said its employees have been able to work six million man-hours without any lost time from accidents and now the company was looking to extend this record to seven million hours.

"This exceptional achievement is the result of employees' alertness and compliance with safety regulations and professional practice," said Banagas general manager Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

"It is also the result of ongoing intensive efforts on the part of Banagas since its inception to establish safe working practices throughout the company.

"The safety regulations are designed to protect employees and equipment from potential hazards and employees are instructed to use safety equipment through regular training sessions."

He said that this achievement was evidence of employees' compliance with safety regulations and their full awareness of professional responsibility.

"The sense of safety is always there, everywhere in the company," he said.

He praised these achievements and emphasised the role of the directors in supporting the company's endeavours to attain even higher performance standards.

"The next safety target of the company will be seven million man-hours without lost time accidents," he added.

"I am confident that with this ongoing awareness and dedicated adherence to the safety rules and regulations on the part of employees, Banagas will be able to achieve its target."
