Saudi firms to boost polypropylene exports to India

Riyadh, January 5, 2012

Major Saudi firms including Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) and Advanced Petrochemicals Company are aiming to boost exports of polypropylene to India following the lifting of the anti-dumping duty on the product, a report said.

The Indian move to end anti-dumping cases was welcomed by Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, who is currently visiting India, said the report in Arab News.

Al-Rabiah also called on Indian officials to consider lifting the duty levied on caustic soda imports originating from Saudi Arabia.

The minister also said that he saw huge potential for stepping up commercial engagement with India, while calling New Delhi to relax visa rules to boost bilateral trade and investment further, the report said.

Saudi Arabia, on its part, has simplified its visa procedure and gives multiple entry visas for one year to Indian businessmen, he added.
