Current rail projects focus for Riyadh summit

Current railway projects in the Middle East and smart communication systems coupled with intelligent transport systems for railways will form the focus for a major summit opening in Riyadh tomorrow (May 5).

Organised by Fleming Gulf, a leading provider of business intelligence, the fifth Annual Middle East Rail Opportunities is themed “Expanding Trade Tracks : Boosting Economy in a Dynamic Region”.

The conference will see attendance from Ma'aden, whose current and future operations of phosphate and aluminium transport rely substantially on railways. The North South Line is being constructed to transport phosphate and bauxite from mines operated by Ma’aden.

Dr Shahid Khan, project director from Saudi Binladin Group will elaborate on optimising trade links within Saudi Arabia with the help of North South Railway Line. In furtherance to his presentation he will also focus on the safety aspect coupled with maintaining links at the same time.

Dr Osama I Abdouh, chief executive officer at Metro Jeddah Company will elaborate on designing of the Jeddah Public Transportation Master Plan. He will guide the attendees on how to engage stakeholders across industries and communities.

With over billions of investments taking place in the railway industry, the summit will provide a practical approach on 'The Plan' for future and how it can be executed. A panel discussion lead by representatives from Ministry of Works, Bahrain, MASIC and Council of Saudi Chambers will focus exclusively on the future of the railway network. – TradeArabia News Service
