Britain waives visa for UAE nationals

Abu Dhabi, November 13, 2013

The United Kingdom has decided to extend its Visa waiver scheme to the nationals of United Arab Emirates, a report said.

UAE news agency Wam said UAE 's Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has welcomed the announcement made by the British Prime Minister David Cameron to waive entry visa requirements for Emiratis who hold regular passports with effect from early 2014.

Sheikh Abdullah said the step would ease travel by Emiratis to the UK and would strengthen the relations between the two friendly countries, especially in the areas of economy, health, tourism and culture, the report quoted.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the British Embassy in the UAE are examining the mechanisms to implement the visa waiver scheme. The MoFA will later announce the procedures, it said.
