Bahrain to host Arab writers’ meeting

Manama, November 5, 2012

Bahrain will host the 25th Arab Writers’ General Assembly Meeting under the auspices of the Culture Ministry from December 21 to 25.

A large number of members of Arab and Bahraini writers’ guilds are expected to take part, according to a report in our sister publication the Gulf Daily News.

Bahraini Writers’ Guild chief poet Ebrahim Bu Hindi said that the Arab Writers’ Congress conducts similar assembly meetings every three years to elect its secretary general and members of its general secretariat and conduct its poetry festival and associated seminars chosen by the host country.

Bu Hindi said that the Writers’ Guild would honour two Bahraini artists, intellectuals and writers Dr Mohammed Jabir Al Ansari and the late Ebrahim Al Arrayed. He said the guild will organise two seminars, ‘Al Ansari the think-tank’ and ‘Al Arrayed the literary writer’.

There will also be poetry evenings where a large number of poets from Arab countries, including Bahrain, are expected to take part. – TradeArabia News Service
