GCC environmental body holds meet

Kuwait City, October 9, 2010

Kuwait is hosting several high-level Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meetings related to the environment this weekend.

The GCC committee on wildlife natural habitat protection is holding its eighth meeting today (October 9), which will be followed tomorrow with the commencement of the 26th meeting of the GCC environmental coordination committee.

In addition, on October 12, there will be a meeting of senior GCC environmental affairs officials. The meetings will feature topics such as the potential effects of climate change on the region and the "red tides" phenomenon.

These sessions will include several senior officials and experts from all GCC member nations, in addition to representatives of other international entities. They will be chaired by the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ahmad Al-Haroun. – TradeArabia News Service
