Saudi to push public transport use
, June 26, 2013
Saudi Arabia is considering major policy changes to encourage people to use public transport and to streamline transport services in the kingdom, said a report.
The initiatives pertained to two major policy changes, the undersecretary for transport affairs Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Ohali was quoted as saying in the report by Arab News.
The first change is to provide incentives through low-priced tickets and long-term tickets. The second move would be to disallow private vehicles from entering certain areas which would automatically encourage use of public transport, Dr Al-Ohali was quoted as saying.
