L & T wins $272m Qatar sub-stations deal

Indian engineering major Larsen & Toubro has won a $272 million order from Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramma) for supply and construction of sub-stations, a report said.

Larsen & Toubro’s power transmission & distribution division will supply and build 13 substations in Qatar under the deal, the company said.

The project is expected to be completed in 18-26 months.

The contract encompasses design and construction of civil buildings with a complete set of utilities such as air conditioning, fire protection, lighting systems and much more, the filing said.

The scope of the order also includes delivery of gas insulated switchgears, associated cabling, power transformers, air insulated switchgears, protection and substation automation system.
