$50m water park opens in Bahrain

Manama, September 2, 2007

The $50 million Lost Paradise of Dilmun water park in Bahrain, claimed to be the Middle East’s largest, opens to the public tomorrow (September 3).

The fully-themed Lost Paradise of Dilmun is part of the prestigious Al Areen development. The park is developed in 77,000-sq m of desert oasis and features 14 of the latest water slides and pools designed by leading international water park designers Whitewater West.

Sim Leisure in Malaysia, one of the biggest theme park design, building and management companies in the world, which has constructed numerous global water parks, is the operator of Lost Paradise of Dilmun.

The Lost Paradise of Dilmun is the second component in the unique $1.3 billion plus Al Areen development. Spread over an area of two million square metres, Al Areen strengthens Bahrain's reputation as a leading luxurious family-oriented tourist destination.

Drawing upon Bahrain’s long and distinguished past, in addition to the Lost Paradise of Dilmun and Banyan Tree Desert Spa & Resort, Al Areen is transforming its distinctive desert location into a diverse collection of distinct yet unified components including themed luxury hotels, residential and commercial villages, educational, entertainment and recreational facilities.

Other components of Al Areen Development include the $300 million Sarab Al Areen which redefines retail, office and living space in the Arabian Gulf; Sunset Hills is a mixed-use venture featuring residential and commercial facilities such as luxury villas, town houses, terraced apartments, and apartment blocks for shops and residences, while Al Waha Resort will feature a five-star hotel.

Taking its theme from Bahrain’s rich cultural history – the Kingdom was the centre of the ancient Dilmun civilisation some 4,000 years ago - the Lost Paradise of Dilmun promises fun for the whole family. The Superbowl, Boomerango and Body Slides are some of the main exciting attractions catering to all ages. Other features include the 325-metre Paradise River and Family Raft Ride, the park’s tallest ride designed for 4 people and the Middle East’s largest Wave Pool.  – TradeArabia News Service
