Gulf Air launches new Internet booking engine

Gulf Air has launched a new state-of-the-art Internet Booking Engine (IBE).

The new IBE enabled website at www.gulfair.com provides faster, simpler, more convenient, accessible and even more secure features for both individual customers as well as corporate houses, including a frequent flyer miles redemption system, said the airline.

The IBE also facilitates online booking of hotel accommodation and car hire in several of Gulf Air’s network destinations, it said. 

“We want to provide a comprehensive and user-friendly internet booking experience to our customers as more and more customers have started using the internet for booking their travel and related services such as accommodation and transport,” said Gulf Air acting executive vice president marketing and sales Danny Barranger.  

“The new platform will significantly improve customer experience and offer simplicity yet maximum choice. Now customers can buy in a matter of minutes through the new booking process. Their reservation is automatically finalised and e-tickets are issued instantly. Visually impaired customers will find it easier to use the site thanks to its compliance with international accessibility standards. Most importantly, the newly introduced 3-D Secure payment system assures our customers that their payment details are always protected,” Barranger said.

“The new booking engine will very soon come with a guarantee, that our customer can be confident that when booking on the Gulf Air website, they will not find a more competitive fare for the same itinerary on any other website.  If they do, Gulf Air will reimburse the fare difference,” he said.

“We wanted to provide our customers a wholesome travel experience at the click of a button that offers as many travel related services as possible,” added Gulf Air vice-president distribution and e-commerce Lars Denlew.

“Using the latest web development technologies, we have included features like calendar shopping, choice of several products per flight, hotel and car hire booking, transparency of pricing and finally payment in local currency.”

Customers are provided with immediate confirmation and an e-mail with hotel or car hire vouchers. They will further be able to retrieve their booking and cancel on-line subject to conditions. –TradeArabia News Service
