ME tourists encouraged to visit Scandinavia

Dubai, March 10, 2010

Holiday and business travellers, specifically the Arab community from the Middle East, seeking to explore places with a depth of history and diversity, should consider travelling into Scandinavia, said the top official of a top airline.

“Arab nationals from the UAE and throughout the region looking to visit and travel to places that present a unique blend of a deep sense of history and culture together with the simplicity of modern living and a clean and green environment shouldn’t miss out on travelling into Scandinavia,” said Albert Henschel, the SAS Scandinavian UAE general manager.

He was speaking at a media roundtable with journalists from various Arabic news agencies.

Copenhagen was adjudged as the ‘greenest’ in a study conducted by Siemens to determine the environmental sustainability of 30 major cities in 30 European countries. Other Scandinavian capitals such as Stockholm in Sweden and Oslo in Norway were ranked second and third respectively behind Copenhagen.

According to the study, Scandinavian countries have placed the environment on their agenda for many years - thus have invested in sustainable production.

“It is definitely of no coincidence that SAS Scandinavian Airlines itself, being the largest airline in Northern Europe and the national carrier of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, is at the forefront of environmental initiatives in the airline industry,” said Henschel.

“As Arab nationals travel into Scandinavia via SAS Scandinavian Airlines, such travellers would immediately get a feel and taste of a truly Scandinavian experience, not just from the environmental perspective, but from the rich tradition of simplicity and hospitality that we extend to our valued customers on board any of our flights,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
