Achievements in aircraft exterior and interior design will be honoured for the first time at Custom Jet Show and Awards, a showcasing platform for customised aircraft at an upcoming air show in Egypt.

The fourth edition of Avex International Airshow will run from November 7 to 10 at Sharm El Sheikh International Airport.

Avex has significantly grown since its inception in 2005. Hosting over 70 exhibitors, a growth of nearly 25 per cent when compared with 2005 exhibitor figures, the air show is sponsored by over 15 companies, eight of which are leading Egyptian companies.

“Despite the challenges the aviation industry has faced over the past few years, Avex has managed to weather this downturn and has established strong credibility amongst the aviation community’s leaders”, said Nic Watson, Avex director.

“This year, we have lined up several new attractions, such as the arrival of the Airbus A380 for the first time in North Africa, the Aviation Unity Summit, and the first ever Custom Jet Show competition and awards,” Watson added.

The Aviation Unity Summit is an all-day event scheduled to take place on November 9. Participants and speakers will include governments, chairpersons, presidents and CEOs of key businesses and organisations of the African aviation industry.

“The Aviation Unity Summit takes place for the first time in Avex this year”, said Ibrahim Manna, chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation.

“The summit aims at assessing Africa and the Middle East’s aviation outlook, reshaping and repairing the African MRO sector, aviation training institutions and the creation of an African aviation hub, among other key topics that impact the development of the aviation industry of the region,” Manna added.

Aerobatic flying displays have been scheduled throughout the event by the Flying Bulls, the Royal Jordanian Falcons and the Egyptian Silver Stars. Additional activities include paint ball, reverse bungee, go-kart racing and other competitions. – TradeArabia News Service
