Mubadala hotel on track for 2012 launch

Mubadala Real Estate and Hospitality (MREH) said Rosewood Abu Dhabi, the firm's landmark waterfront hotel on Sowwah Island, has reached its final height of 143 metres and will be ready for opening in 2012.

MREH said the 34-storey Rosewood Abu Dhabi is structurally complete and once open the hotel will offer 189 spacious guest rooms and suites, 131 serviced residences and six penthouses, all with access to Rosewood's world-class services.

The hotel will offer guests an elegant experience in the dynamic urban environment at Sowwah Island, a world class 114 hectare mixed-use development in the heart of Abu Dhabi, at the focal point of its business, cultural and residential areas, said a top official.

"We are delighted by this milestone achievement and I congratulate our construction partners on this important occasion,” remarked Peter Wilding, executive director MREH.

Wilding was speaking at a function hosted by MREH to celebrate the topping out milestone on level 32 of the Rosewood Abu Dhabi hotel site on Sowwah Island at the heart of Abu Dhabi’s new Central Business District (CBD).

Sowwah Island is Located on the waterfront next to Sowwah Square, Rosewood Abu Dhabi is fully equipped with business facilities and services to meet the needs of its guests and neighbouring offices. Rosewood Abu Dhabi is the first venture in the emirate by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

“Rosewood Abu Dhabi will redefine the luxury experience in Abu Dhabi and we are pleased that the significant topping out milestone for the hotel structure has been achieved," said John Scott, president and CEO Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

"Rosewood Abu Dhabi is reflective of the vibrant, mixed-use nature of the new CBD, which has been designed to the highest standard of quality, functionality and sustainability," he noted.

The guests at Rosewood Abu Dhabi will enjoy extensive amenities, retail and a variety of signature and all day dining offerings. The hotel will also feature Sense, a Rosewood Spa, an 18,000 sq ft beauty, wellness and fitness retreat.

Rosewood Abu Dhabi is designed by renowned architect Handel Architects, and encompasses A Sense of Place, the philosophy of having each property reflect the culture, history and geography of the city in which it exists.

Senior members of the MREH team along with representatives of the Arabian Construction Company (ACC) and Rosewood Hotels besides the architects and interior designers attended the ceremony.-TradeArabia News Service
