Jumeirah to manage Italian luxury hotel

Dubai, December 5, 2011

Dubai-based luxury hotel company Jumeirah Group said it has been appointed to manage the five-star luxury property, Grand Hotel Via Veneto in Rome.

Located in the heart of Rome, on the exclusive via Veneto, the hotel has 122 rooms and suites, a spacious lobby, two fine dining restaurants, an award-winning bar, a rooftop solarium and the state-of-the-art Aqva City spa.

A member of Dubai Holding, Jumeirah said it will take over the running of the hotel and integrate it into its global portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts early next year, when the property will be rebranded as Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto, Rome.

Commenting on the deal, Gerald Lawless, executive chairman, Jumeirah Group, said, “Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto is an important and fitting addition to Jumeirah Group's portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts.'

'It is also a key part of our global expansion plans following our hotel openings in Dubai, Frankfurt, Shanghai, the Maldives and Abu Dhabi this year.'

'From a Dubai perspective, we are also encouraged that it coincides with the launch of Emirates Airlines’ A380 service to Rome,' he remarked.

Carlo Acampora, chairman and CEO Grand Hotel Via Veneto, said, 'I am delighted that the hotel will benefit from the global reputation that Jumeirah has for the very top end of luxury.'

'Our guests will get the very best hotel experience in Rome, coupled with all the benefits that Jumeirah brings in terms of service excellence and brand,' he added.

Grand Hotel Via Veneto was included in the Condé Nast Traveller 2011 Hot List as one of the 101 most beautiful hotels in the world, as well as receiving an array of accolades from other organisations such as the Michelin Hotel Guide, Gambero Rosso, the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences and TripAdvisor.

With the addition of Jumeirah Grand Hotel Via Veneto, Jumeirah Group now has five luxury properties under management in Europe – Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel and the recently announced Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living in London; and Jumeirah Frankfurt in Germany.

In Spring 2012 the company will open Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa in Mallorca, Spain.-TradeArabia News Service
