Gulf Air wins major IT award

Bahrain's national airline Gulf Air has won the 'Best Airline Award; at the Arabian Computer News Arab Technology Awards 2012 for its outstanding work in the area of information technology and implementation over the past 12 months.

Gulf Air was voted the best airline in the hospitality and tourism implementation of the year category establishing its leadership position in the Arab and Middle East regions' aviation industry.

Gulf Air director of information technology Dr Jassim Haji received the award at a gala ceremony in Dubai yesterday that saw more than 400 leading technology professionals and organisations from the Arab world taking part.

Held on the sidelines of Gitex in Dubai, the award ceremony honours corporates and business houses in the entire Mena region for their innovative usage, development and implementation of information technology to deliver business value in various categories.

"The award once again proves the relentless efforts that we put in embracing and implementing innovative and cost-effective technologies to serve our customers more efficiently while maximising the advantages these technologies offer in running our business," said Gulf Air chief executive officer Samer Majali.-TradeArabia News Service
