India’s civil aviation scene will see some major changes in the near future, said the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication, citing the country's minister of state for civil aviation who is on a visit to Bahrain.

“We have received several complaints from Air India passengers that ticket prices are high and they cannot afford to travel with the national carrier,” Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal said.

He was speaking at a Press conference held at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam. “We are holding talks with top officials and staff to discuss the issue. Unlimited rate increases will be controlled,” he said.

“There have been suggestions to improve services and many passengers are not happy with the attitude of some of the carrier’s flight crew,” Venugopal said.

Air India will hire skilled air-hostesses and give them training to deal with passengers. Training will start next month, he said.

“Shortage of pilots will be sorted out within four months and we will start our new services,” he said. “We are also looking at improving the quality of food served to passengers.”

He said Bahrain Air passengers faced delays following suspension of flights because the carrier was awaiting landing rights.

“We renewed the contract, which is valid until December 31. But we will extend it to January 31 after speaking to officials,” Venugopal said.
