Deutsche Bank appoints new COO

Dubai, April 15, 2009

Deutsche Bank has appointed a new chief operating officer (COO) for the UAE and Qatar.

Joe Barchini, the new COO, will report to Mounir Husseini, Deutsche Bank’s chief country officer for the UAE and Qatar, and Alexander Schuetz, COO for the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.

Barchini joined Deutsche Bank in 2005, and was until recently the Business Manager of its global markets division in Mena.

Barchini has played an active role in Deutsche Bank's growth in the Mena region, most notably in the establishment of its branches in Dubai and Riyadh, as well as the build up of its franchise in Algeria.

Mounir Husseini said: “Joe’s contribution to the success of Deutsche Bank’s regional expansion has been invaluable, and I am pleased to have him as part of my team.

“This appointment underlines Deutsche Bank’s commitment to strengthen its local franchise in the UAE and Qatar, where we plan to build on the successes and achievements of the bank in both countries.”

Alexander Schuetz said: “As COO for the UAE and Qatar, Joe will act as a coordinator between all business divisions and legal entities.

“He will oversee Deutsche Bank’s infrastructure functions, optimize business strategy and prospects, while ensuring that the defined Bank policies, control processes and standards are properly maintained in both countries.”

Before joining Deutsche Bank, Barchini established in 2002 TurnAround Investments Advisory (Taia), a Geneva-based company specialising in corporate finance and management advisory services. – TradeArabia News Service
