200 delegates to take part in ACT conference

Dubai, November 8, 2011

More than 200 delegates from across the GCC are expected to attend the Second annual Association of Corporate Treasurers Middle East (ACTME) conference in Dubai later this month.

The conference, sponsored this year by RBS as well as other leading banking and corporate sector organisations active in the region, will be held on November 16 at Jumeirah Emirates Towers.

Key note speakers at the conference include Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, Minister of Foreign Trade of the UAE; James Rigney, CFO of Etihad Airways; and Dr Nasser Al Saidi, chief economist of the DIFC.

The ACT Dinner on November 15 will culminate in awards being presented in the categories of Bond, Loan and Corporate Finance Deal of the Year as well as presentations to winners of the Small and the Large Treasury teams of the year.

Matthew Hurn, executive director, group treasury, Mubdala Development Company, and chairman of the ACT Middle East Committee, said: “Treasury in a company is vital in determining a firm’s financial strategy and financial policy – advising on what businesses to invest in, organising the appropriate funding for this, and controlling the risk in the organisation.  These are all critical issues for UAE companies particularly in the sort of financial and trading environment we are all having to deal with at the moment.  Promoting and supporting international best practice in this key corporate activity is something ACT takes very seriously.”

The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) is an internationally recognised body established to qualify, support and represent professionals working in treasury, risk and corporate finance.

ACT Middle East was established in 2008 and provides a valuable network for professionals working in this increasingly critical role in the GCC.  ACT also provides training courses for students wishing to qualify professionally in this important sector.   – TradeArabia News Service
