StanChart appoints new head of banking, UAE

DUBAI, November 7, 2016

Standard Chartered has appointed Mohamed Salama as head of banking, UAE. His appointment is effective immediately.

Salama will report directly into Sarmad Lone, head of banking, Menap with a reporting line into Julian Wynter, CEO, UAE.

Salama joins from HSBC, where his most recent role was managing director, head of Dubai banking coverage and deputy head of UAE banking coverage. He has 19 years of corporate and investment banking experience, covering central governments, sovereign wealth funds, financial sponsors, as well as large cap private, public sector and multinational companies.

Commenting on the appointment, Wynter said: “We are organising ourselves around our clients, putting them front and centre of everything we do. This is reflected in our coverage model. Mohamed’s insights and experience in the region will be key to the execution of our growth strategy in the UAE.
