UAE launches e-refund system for federal transactions

DUBAI, December 24, 2018

The UAE Ministry of Finance has launched a new system to facilitate e-Dirham refunds on services and transactions for all federal entities as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the quality and speed of services and enhance customer satisfaction.

The e-refund system facilitates and expedites the refund of service charges for clients in federal entities, said a statement from the ministry.

The system allows customers to register and apply for a self-refund, in adherence with the requirements of relevant federal ministries, and delivers a quicker response to customer needs. e-refund conforms to, and meets, the conditions of all financial transactions to recover fees, and is in full compliance with related laws and regulations, it added.

Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, the assistant undersecretary for Resources and Budget at the Ministry of Finance, said that the launch of the new system aims to increase customer satisfaction, and provide services that are on a par with its clients’ standards.

The ministry, he stated, had been keen to develop an e-revenue system as part of its strategy - one that provides comprehensive and integrated financial services, which bolster the country’s financial systems while enhancing customer satisfaction.

"The new system was developed following a comprehensive study of the mechanism of retrieving fees for e-Dirham and determining the requirements for improving the service as per the ministry's strategy to further develop its smart services and support the country's position on global competitiveness indices," he noted.

"The study included identifying potential challenges when implementing the new system and ways to overcome them to ensure we achieve the results we wanted," he added.

The e- refund system allows customers to create their own account to file a refund request and confirm the request in four simple steps, from anywhere, and without having to visit the ministry's headquarters.

In addition to the MoF, the system will also be available with a range of federal ministries including ministries of justice, economy, education, infrastructure development, culture and knowledge development, energy, human resources and Emiratisation, interior, health and community protection, foreign affairs and international cooperation, climate change and the environment, community development and defence.-TradeArabia News Service
