Saudi telco Atheeb to resume trading

Riyadh, March 22, 2012

Saudi Arabian fixed line operator Etihad Atheeb Telecom will resume trading on the kingdom's stock market on March 24, according to a bourse statement.

Atheeb's shares were suspended in May 2011 after its accumulated losses reached of 95 percent of its capital. Saudi market rules call for a suspension if losses exceed 75 percent.

Atheeb then cut its capital by 60 percent to 400 million riyals ($106.65 million) to cover some of these losses, before getting regulatory approval in December to launch a 1.175 billion riyals capital increase. - Reuters
